APF CLINIC
 |
The Clinic of APF was founded in 1988. This project was started to support the peasant population in the Village of Fondwa by providing first aid until they could get to the hospital over 30 miles away in either Jacmel or Léogâne .
Before the APF clinic was founded, some of the sick people living in far regions of Fondwa, were forced to walk many miles, or were transported on a chair or board to the highway above Fondwa in order to find a TAP-TAP or a bus to get them to the Hospital. Too exhausted from the walk, many of the peasants, died before they arrived at the hospital.
The APF Clinic provides medical consultation for emergency care to sick people of Fondwa and Fondwa vicinity. | The clinic also provides medication at a low price, some simple laboratory test: urine, hemoglobin, blood sugar, HIV and pregnancy.
The Clinic recently developed a blood pressure monitoring program to check people’s blood pressure on a routine basis: people pay a very flat amount each month for this service and get as much monitoring and medication as they need.
 |
APF Clinic is developing a pregnancy program to assist pregnant women, They also have a malnutrition program to help the sick, underweight children of Fondwa village to receive milk, meals, vitamins and most recently, a goat program to provide a goat for each family (we buy goats and give them to the parents of the malnourished children; they raise their goats and feed their kids with the goats milk).
Some of the activities of the clinic are supported by Family Health Ministries out of North Carolina and Partners In Progress (PIP) in Pittsburgh, PA. However there are still many needs. Our doors are open to receive financial help from anybody or any organizations who are interested in providing better health care for people of Rural Haiti. |
We are always in need of medical supplies (please check with us first, because we sometimes receive things we do not need), we are not a hospital, but a clinic that operates five days a week and on week-ends for emergencies.
(You can bring the medicines with you when you come to Fondwa or you can mail them. Please check with us first.)
We hope to implement a mobile medical clinic in two sites around Fondwa. This will take the financial and personal support of donors and volunteers. We are calling upon the participation of many volunteers to help us with this project. .
The work of the APF Clinic and its vision for this community is a long-term Project. We hope that you will accompany us in our efforts to alleviate the physical sufferings of the people of this Communal Section.
